Having the option to create a design entirely from scratch in as little as 8 weeks can be very exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Exciting undoubtedly because you can allow yourself to be as creative, explicit and detailed as you like, and since you are the boss you can change the elements of the designs as many times as it takes until you are 100% happy with it. For the times that you do get overwhelmed, we offer a hand holding service where we endeavor to assist and reassure you by keeping you posted at every step of the way.
Step 1: At the consultation, we get all your ideas on paper. This includes everything on your mood board and we propose options from our Fabric Library, Color pallets and embellishment swatches to gage which style of handwork you like best. Based on the information we gathered, we make several sketches as proposals and also to check that we are all on the same page. At this stage we can go back to the drawing board, as many times as needed if you want elements of the designs changed.
Step 2: 1 week Following the consultation we trace the life size pattern and transfer the artwork on the pattern and send it to you for approval. At this stage you can still make several alteration to the design, which includes alteration to the pattern and the artwork. For instance you can change the shape of the dress or increase or decrease the amount of handwork on the design in order to make it heavier or lighter.
Step 3: Week 2 we source the fabric you have chosen and dye it in the color you picked from the palette. Then we place a sample of the embellished/embroidered artwork on the fabric that is approximately the size of an A4 paper. We post this to you for your approval. At this stage you can only change the fabric, the color of the fabric and the style and color of the embellishments.
Step 4: Week 3-6 by now we have everything we need to produce the design.
Step 5: End of Week 6, the design is delivered to you.
Being very thorough from the beginning not only eliminates waste that in turn saves you money, but it also allows us to deliver your design to you in a shorter time frame. So we encourage our clients to be very thorough and expressive and its good to keep diary with all you ideas (notes and pictures).
At Yuvna Kim, there is no restriction or limitation as to what we can design. When making a bespoke dress, that is, a new custom made design that is not part of our existing collection, we are able to give a quote within 2 days of the consultation.
